Baby Put in Microwave Update

The Texas man who put his 2 month old daughter in the microwave must undergo a mental evaluation to see if he is fit to stand trial.

The 19-year-old accused of the crime says he was under some form of demonic possession when he put his daughter in the microwave last week. The baby suffered third degree burns to her face and hands. She has since been released from the hospital and is currently in foster care.

If the 19-year-old man is convicted of the crime, he could face up to 99 years in prison.

What is this if he is convicted? He did it he should get life in jail. Who in their right mind puts a 2 month old baby in a microwave? And where in the world was her mother when all this was going on? No one has said anything about her. Why is that? I would hope that the state looks long and hard at this.

That man is sick- what human being would do that to your own flesh and blood you would do anything possible to protect that child not hurt them. How would you feel if we did that to you- fry your butt in a microwave. You committed a crime you should go to prison for life without parole. So you won't ever hurt anyone else. I won't stand by and let anyone hurt any of of my nieces or nephews. These children are priceless and precious and for this idiot that's probably is on drugs should be in a frying pit. where was the mother at?

It's so sad to see people who do stuff like this. It's uncalled for and if this what people do who have mental issues maybe they shouldn't be in charge of taking care of an innocent life. This man needs to be put away for life!

Um. For one, the man deserves a trial (not trail) because we live in a country whose laws are based on a document called the constitution and if anyone is accused of a crime they are allowed such unless the right to a trial is waved. It's interesting how many respond that the man is obviously sick but because he says that demonic suggestion motivated his actions he is just lying to excuse his behavior and "play the mental health card". That's not logical, choose one stance and stick with it. If one researches the subject you will also find that it costs more to execute someone than it does to furnish them with three squares and cable TV for life. In regards to how one can hurt a child, it's not that hard to cross the line in a verbal argument, this guy crossed the line in a physical argument. Granted, it was with a child but the line is breached in the same way. People can make horrible, horrible mistakes when they are frustrated, hurt, angered, or scared. They also make horrible mistakes when they are stupid. It's a tragedy that this innocent girl was the victim of such horrors but I doubt putting someone in a "fire pit" would rectify any situation. I didn't know the man had a military background but perhaps there is more to this new rash of PTSD from the war on terror than I first had thought. Perhaps we should rethink this public's (majority) stand on abortion rights. Children aren't asked to be brought into this world but the cost of having an abortion are more than financial. Perhaps the negative social stigmatism placed on people for having abortions caused this couple to decide to keep this child and since the man is so young I doubt that he had the maturity to act as a rational human being during his wife's absense.

I agree with Patrick, save some money to the country. Use this punk's trial money in making reconstructive surgery to the baby girl. The punk, doesn't even deserve a trail.
