A Bank One spokeswoman says the employees who got the bad news are in the bank's capital markets and commercial banking units. And most of the cuts are in Chicago.

JP Morgan and Bank One have said they plan to cut a total of ten thousand jobs in the merger, a move that is expected to be completed by the middle of the year.
