The range was used by army troops for combat training during World War I.
Now environmental experts along with the Army Corps of Engineers are diligently combing the park and surrounding areas to locate military ordnance items, and examine the hazards those items may pose.
Now in the fourth and final phase of the project, crews are expanding their search to the outer boundaries of the park, with expectations of finding any more ordnance items falling.
Precautions necessary to insure the safety of the park are for decades to come.
