The Wisconsin National Guard says Rachel and Charity Witmer of New Berlin have returned to active duty. Their assignments were not immediately disclosed.
Lt. Col. Tim Donovan says the sisters want to quietly begin their new duties in support of operation Nobel Eagle. That's the Defense Department's homeland security mission.
The sisters chose not to return to Iraq following the death of their sister Michelle, honoring the requests of their commanders who thought the increased publicity might be a detriment to their units.
The surviving sisters returned home April 12 for their sister's funeral and have remained on extended leave until Monday.
