The mass murder of six children in Rockford is said to be the most heinous crime ever committed. Now the man convicted of this crime in 1978 is up for parole---again.
Simon Peter Nelson crushed the skulls of his six children and stabbed them to death. Tomorrow the Illinois Prisoner Review Board will hear testimony at nelson's parole hearing. In 2001, the board did not favor his release. The board is expected to be presented with letters of objection and hundreds of petitions protesting his release. A final vote on whether Nelson is eligible for parole should come by May 13th .
