Three area schools went into lockdown today after reports of gunshots heard nearby. Maple School, Windsor Elementary and Harlem Middle School, all in the Harlem School District were placed on lockdown shortly before school began this morning as a precautionary measure.
Loves Park Police received reports of several shots being fired near Maple School in Loves Park. However, those reports turned out to be unfounded. The lockdown was lifted at all three schools later this morning.
This was the second time in recent weeks Maple School has been on lockdown.
