One hundred eighty eight people will be losing their jobs when Lucent Technologies closes in Genoa. The company is a subsidiary of AG Communication Systems they manufactures circuit boards and other electronic products.
Local downtown businesses say the company has been downsizing for years but were hoping it wouldn’t close.
A Lucent spokesperson said employees were told on April 23 that they would be losing their jobs. They were later given a letter detailing the closure.
The Corporate headquarters says they expect to have everyone out of the building by September. Employees will be given severance packages based on their salaries and how long they've been with the company.
