Illinois State Toll Highway Authority Approves EZ Pass Consortium

The authority's board of directors voted unanimously Thursday to join the EZ-Pass Interagency Group.

The board also approved the payment of $47,000 in dues and $250,000 to mesh Illinois account data with other states to make billing easier.

Officials say the move could have a significant impact on about 30,000 cross-country truckers passing daily through Illinois.

Toll authority spokeswoman Joelle McGinnis says it should take about a year to implement the plan.
