BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- An Indiana University student has been charged with making hundreds of fake identification cards that showed up in at least seven other states, including Wisconsin.
Twenty-one-year-old Nicholas Richardson of Bloomington, Indiana, faces a felony charge of counterfeiting and a misdemeanor charge of distribution of false government-issued identification.
The Indiana State Excise Police began its investigation last month after seizing dozens of false I-D's at bars, liquor stores and grocery stores. Over the past year, excise officers also came across several hundred fake I-D's manufactured in Bloomington and found in states including Virginia, Massachusetts, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, California and Illinois.
Police say they were sold with 125 dollars each.
