A 19-year-old Rockford woman is behind bars for leaving the scene of an accident which left one man dead.
On Thursday, 53-year-old George Ladsonen of Belvidere was hit and killed by a car in the 500 block of South Mulford. The driver fled the scene after the crash and police have since been investigating.
Then Saturday night at about 10 p.m., Rockford police were called to Pepper Drive to check on a suspicious car with heavy front end damage. They later arrested 19-year-old Carrie Oaks and charged her with leaving the scene of an accident and operation of an uninsured vehicle. Her bond has been set at $10,000.
