CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- All LaSalle branches will be rebranded with the Bank of America name.
That word comes as Bank of America confirmed today it'll purchase Chicago-based LaSalle Bank from A-B-N Amro North America Holding for 21 billion dollars.
LaSalle is a top-20 U-S bank holding company, with 113 billion in total assets.
The combination of LaSalle and Bank of America creates a leading banking franchise in metropolitan Chicago and in Michigan.
The deal initially was announced by A-B-N Amro when the Dutch bank agreed to sell itself to Barclays for around 91 (B) billion dollars.
The purchase also lets Bank of America once again test a federal law that prohibits banks from acquiring ten percent of U-S deposits through acquisition.
But bank officials say they are confident they can meet the requirements.
