Miners in Trouble

A new drill bit has arrived in somerset, pennsylvania, to replace a broken bit and drilling has continued.

rescuers have been preparing to continue drilling the thirty-inch hole which workers hope will be used to send a basket down to retrieve miners. The new drill bit is replacing one that broke last night, creating a large delay and setback for rescuers attempting to save the nine miners trapped 240-feet below the ground.

Tapping was heard coming from the shaft on thursday, but no sounds were heard overnight. It's possible the sound of the drilling may have covered up any response. And the water level where the miners are located is receding as 20-thousand gallons a minute are pumped from the shaft.
