Police say a six-year-old girl who vanished from a suburban St. Louis home today was killed by a man who had stayed there overnight.
Cassandra Williamson was reported missing this morning from her father's home. Police say the suspect, a 24-year-old local transient, later told them the girl's body was at an abandoned glass factory a few blocks away.
That's where a body believed to be Cassandra's was found. St. Louis County Police Chief Ron Battelle says the body has not been identified, but that they're "certain it is her." Battelle says an autopsy is planned. He did not describe the condition of the body.
Battelle says the suspect, Johnny Johnson, was arrested but that charges had not yet been filed.
