Machesney Park Ice Cream Truck Ban Discussion
The battle to sell ice cream long outlived the season it could be sold. So now, one Loves Park man is trying to broaden sales by peddling his business plan onto Machesney Park's agenda.

Kenny Polhamus owns Kroozin Kooler, an ice cream truck business. He just started selling in Loves Park this summer after the city overturned a long-standing ban on these trucks. And now Machesney Park's public improvement and safety committee will discuss its ban tomorrow night. Polhamus is hoping he doesn't get the cold shoulder.
In order for Machesney Park to lift the ban, it needs majority support from the full board.

I hope these ice cream truck ARE banned! We had one in our neighborhood last summer, and the noise was repetitive and a nuisance. Going out to work in my garden for some "peace and quiet" was not all that -- it was a headache listening to the same tune repeat over and over and over and over and over. It never stopped! Talk about noise pollution. And what about people who work nights, and are trying to sleep days? Trying to get babies to sleep? Those who are ill and NEED to sleep? This is an invasion of privacy. If people want ice cream, they can go to the GROCERY STORE.
