WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrat Barack Obama is the first presidential hopeful to call for the firing of radio host Don Imus.
The Illinois senator tells A-B-C News that he'll never again appear on Imus' show, after the host's remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.
Obama says Imus' comments feed into the worst stereotypes that Obama says his two young daughters have to deal with as black girls in America.
Obama says no one on his staff would still be working for him if they had made a derogatory comment about any ethnic group.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has also criticized Imus and started an online petition of support for the Rutgers players. Two other Democratic presidential candidates -- John Edwards and Senator Chris Dodd -- denounced the remarks.
