The fire broke out Sunday at the home of the Reverend John Stringini at St. Bernadette Church.
Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia says an autopsy shows the priest's 84-year-old father John Stringini, Sr. died of smoke inhalation.
The priest rescued his 83-year-old mother from the burning building, which sustained an estimated $60,000 worth of damage.
