Don't Speak

Last week, the Rockford city council voted down the concept of public input.

Monday night, residents are speaking out not vocally but visually. A public comment time isn't a foreign issue. School district's hear from residents and other surrounding city council's also provide the community a chance to voice concerns.

“Let people speak” was the message coming from a large crowd at the Rockford city council meeting Monday night. With a vote last week of Democrats-7 and Republicans-6 residents do not have time to talk. It was thought that at each meeting five members of the community could speak for 3 minutes each. No litigation or zoning issues could be brought up during the public input time. What can change the decision made last Monday is a Democrat city council member putting the public input issue in front of the council again.
