Fresh Flight Reductions Ordered to Combat O'Hare Delays

Most flights will be moved to other hours and seven will be canceled outright under the plan announced Wednesday. Federal officials negotiated the cuts with the two airlines.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta says cuts that were made previously were a step in the right direction but didn't do enough.

Mineta and FAA Administrator Marion Blakey say that the earlier five percent reductions would have been more effective if not for Chicago's blustery weather. They say O'Hare is still seeing lots of delays and on-time performance fell in March.
