Many took to the streets for the 21st annual Good Friday Way and Stations of the Cross Walk.
Organized by the Rockford Urban Ministries it's a walk from the parking lot of the church to 14 other stops in which a prayer is said at each rest.
Most of the stops have something to do with the city's outreach to the poor and those in need.
At the walk's final stop at Beattie Park participants prayed for forgiveness for their sins. The way of the cross is meant to symbolize Jesus's walk to Calvary, dragging his own cross through Jerusalem.
