McDonald's CEO Dies of Heart Attack

Jim Cantalupo helped engineer a turnaround of the fast-food chain by focusing on better food and service. Under Cantalupo, the company slowed its expansion pace, closed hundreds of restaurants and added new menu items.

Last week, for example, the company kicked off an anti-obesity campaign by announcing the introduction of Adult Happy Meals, featuring salad, bottled water and a pedometer.

Such moves have paid off. McDonald's stock price rose by 49 percent from the time Cantalupo was named to the job through last week. He died Monday morning while attending a convention of McDonald's owners and operators in Orlando, Florida. He was 60.
