Metra In Rockford

Plans are moving ahead to bring rail service to Rockford.

Local leaders met with Metra today to exchange notes. Leaders of Rockford's Northern Illinois Commuter Transportation Initiative briefed Metra on the progress of the project. They explained how they've narrowed options for commuter lines from thirteen down to four and then discussed how our ideas fit in with Metra's plans for Northern Illinois.

Officials said that Metra meeting takes nothing away from the possibility of bringing Amtrak service to Rockford.

I own a home based online Travel Agency (www.firstchoicetravelservice.com) and getting rail service to Rockford would be wonderful and very beneficial, reduce traffic and make the highways safer. With many Rockford and surrounding area residents that like to attend the WHITESOX, Cubs and Bear games this would give them an easier opportunity to do so. Plus some of my travel clients as well as me and my family would love the access to be able to take rail service to Chicago
