During a campaign stop in Rockford at midday Ryan said Barack Obama voted for 428 tax and fee increases over the last four years and supported $14 billion in new government bonding authority.
Ryan says a result of those higher taxes is that the state has lost manufacturing jobs, and he says he would support fewer taxes and less spending as a way to keep jobs in the state.
Obama, however, says the votes Ryan refers to were initiatives backed by Republicans when the GOP was in control of the governor's office. He called the attack on his record a "standard part of the Republican playbook."
