The visit by the North Central Association Higher Learning Commission is a follow-up to its 1999 visit for its 10-year accreditation review of the U of I. The report from that visit expressed concerns that the school's continued use of the Chief was inconsistent with its statements about broadening diversity.
The agency's director says a follow-up visit was delayed last year because of the change in the governor's office and changes on the university's board of trustees.
A three-member team is scheduled to visit the school April 26th and 27th. A report is expected within two months of the visit.
