Supporters of a sales tax referendum to patch up Rockford's roads take their campaign to a new level today.
The first in a series of televised ads debuted today, the ads promote a quote "Better way to fix our roads," and behind the ads is a coalition of up to 300 local business leaders and private citizen volunteers.
They're hoping the 1% sales tax increase will pass April 17th, opponents fear it would drive consumers away to neighboring towns but supporters say fixing our roads would only make Rockford more appealing.
The pro referendum ads are entirely funded by private donations, ads speaking against the sales tax increase are also already running.
