For the amount of times money changes hands, you might say Target cashier Kris Hall is on the front lines of this war on germs.

"I am sanitizing my hands almost every two minutes."

Hand sanitizers sit at all Target check out lanes and behind the scenes for mindful employees.

"I've always been pretty careful, I'm more so now it seems people are getting more nervous so I make sure they see that I'm doing that," says Hall.

Just like many grocery stores, Target will soon start providing complimentary wipes so we could clean off shopping carts before hitting the stores.

Crews are now more diligent about wiping counters and other frequently touched surfaces. There are also flu fighter displays and travel sanitizers at the check-out lane.

"When swine flu broke in the spring, we were finding hand sanitizer was a little more difficult to keep in stock so I think we've reacted well we haven't seen that since heading into the fall," says Target Team Leader Craig Steege.

Tami-flu has been a bit more difficult to keep up with. Especially the liquid form. Hall and other cashiers prevent needing the anti-viral by lathering up, even if it means dry hands.

"I go home, put my lotion on," she says.

Many other local retailers have taken similar steps to prevent spreading the flu. You can also help by taking a few steps of your own this Halloween. The Red Cross warns us to keep sick trick or treaters at home and from answering the door. And to make sure our kids wash their hands before eating any candy.

Target, like many retailers was supposed to host a flu vaccine clinic. But had to cancel it due to the nationwide shortage. We talked to managers at Highlander Grocery Store. And it's in the process of applying to host an H1N1 flu clinic.

I work a Phillips 66 on Rockton Ave here and I have left the glass window shout to keep the germs spread from my customer to me at a low as possible and a lot of hand washing.
