Illinois soldiers who have helped fight the war on terrorism could be eligible for a $100 check for their efforts.
The House unanimously approved a bill that would give $100 to veterans of the global war on terrorism. The bill will now be heading to the Senate.
Families of veterans who died as a result of their service would be eligible for a $1,000 payment.
The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs will oversee the payments, including the application process.
