Burning Away Fall's Remains Ignites Concern

From field fires to house fires, it was a busy day trying to battle numerous blazes.

A pile of burning leaves caused a house fire in south Beloit. The wind helped spread the flames to a small storage shed and then to the house on 529 Clark Street.

The wind was a major factor in helping to rapidly spread the fire that caused much concern for those in surrounding houses.

South Beloit Fire Department says this is one of the largest residential fires they've had in six years. Damage is estimated to be at $100,000.
