City Contracts

The Rockford City council will decide if any impropriety took place during a bidding process last month to hire a contractor to oversee part of the project. The West Side Alive program builds single-family homes for lower income families in developing neighborhoods. Several aldermen contend that the two companies involved in the bidding process failed to comply with the bid requirements. They claim when the city noticed the error, the project was then apparently promised to one contractor without placing the project back out to be re-bid.

Several aldermen believe a legal injury may result in the way the process has gone and want the process re bid. But other aldermen believe the process was legal. Rockford City Council will take a look at the issue at Monday night’s meeting.
