Before a packed house, the board voted 27 to 1 in support of an ordinance allowing wind farms in Winnebago County.
After getting two extra weeks to look over the measure, the board gave its okay, saying the jobs it would generate are too important.
The only no vote came from District 2 board member Steve Schultz. He says he's not against the *obs wind farms would create, just their environmental impact.
The board did approve some amendments to the ordinance, like safeguarding bird migration paths and making sure there are proper setbacks from property lines.
However, this vote doesn't mean wind farms can just sprout up anywhere, projects still need to be approved by the county.
