On Wednesday afternoon, a Winnebago County judge denied a request by the state to keep this weekend's Rockford event from happening.
Judge Ronald Pirello ruled that the state department of Professional Regulation did provide proof that Toughman is not kickboxing. If the event was considered a regular boxing event the state could regulate it.
Toughman Promoter Bob Johnston said he's excited the events a go and the judge made the right call. Toughman is Friday and Saturday night at the Metro Centre in Rockford.
State officials told 23 News they won't try to keep the event from happening but could continue their fight to end Toughman in Illinois.
