Texting While Driving Causes Accidents

it's called DWT, driving while texting and recent studies show that plenty of us do it but that doesn't make it safe and now some states are fighting for a ban against it.

In a matter of seconds Patrick Sims life changed because of texting behind the wheel. The teen was planning on quickly sending a text, he says he looked down for 2 seconds but when he looked back up he was inches from a cyclist in the bike lane.

It was a collision that killed a 63 year old grandfather.

Now as part of Patrick's probation he has to talk to other teens about the accident and is no longer allowed to text ever again.

This story is absolutely disturbing and I am outraged. I don't think anyone at any age should be on their cell phone while driving. I have had people on cell phones pull right out in front of me, and then have the deer in the headlight look while I slam on my brakes to avoid hitting them. Young people need experience driving, using a cell phone impedes them, and text messaging takes their eyes off the road for an even longer amount of time. Why do we as a society have to wait until a certain number of deaths because of a dangerous activity, then we decide to make it unlawful? Are we all crazy? How can anyone think that this is a good idea? When there is more and more traffic with each generation it becomes harder to avoid idiots that have no concern for their own lives or lives of others. It's sad, and they are going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of their life if they take another life while text messaging on their cell phone. Or they will have a family missing them because they were on the cell phone while driving and died doing this stupid activity.
