Coach Gives Birth Then Goes To Game

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- A college basketball coach had a good excuse for missing the opening minutes of a regional championship game: she'd given birth five hours before.

Nebraska-Kearney women's coach Carol Russell says she never wants her players to report late, but she thinks they understood why she did.

Russell had a doctor's permission to attend the game so soon after delivering her first child, a nearly seven-pound baby boy.

Despite such support from the sidelines, Russell's team lost to rival University of North Dakota.
