Here in the stateline, jobs seem to be scarce, and we're no different than other communities nationwide. The Labor Department reports the national unemployment rate was 5.6 percent last month.
A study released today says the unemployment rate for Hispanics is up. The rate jumped to 7.3 percent in January, which reverses a decline over the second half of 2003.
The Pew Hispanic Center says the main reason for the increase was people entering or re-entering the work force.
