Rockford police say the next of kin have not been contacted, and the cause of death is still unknown. What they do know is that the body has been exposed to the elements for some time.
According to police a worker at Paris Construction discovered the body in a pile of debris. It happened Tuesday around 3:15 p.m. The construction company said the last time they went through the pile was about six weeks ago. The body was still frozen so it is possible that it had been lying there nearly the entire time. The body of the 20 to 30 year old white female was intact, and there are no obvious signs of foul play.
Police hope to have a better idea of whether to treat this as suspicious, after an autopsy set for Wednesday.
