A 30-day campaign to bring a new airline to Rockford comes to a close. Airport leaders didn't gather all the surveys they need, but the fight's not over yet.
Airport authority director Bob O'Brien set a target deadline of March 11 to collect 100,000 air travel surveys to lure so-called Airline Z to the Rockford Airport.
As of now residents filled out about 70,000. O'Brien was hoping he'd have the number he needed to call the head of Airline Z and set up another meeting.
According to data collected so far, survey respondents said they make 68,000 annual trips to the destination served by Airline Z.
