Bloom elementary school in Rockford will be shut down Tomorrow.. after nearly 20 percent of the student body comes down with a mysterious illness Thursday
Of the 468 kids that attend bloom, 50 did not come to class on Thursday. Another 30 or so went home sick. The symptoms are similar. They include vomiting, gastrointestinal symptoms, nausea and diarrhea.
The parents who talked with 23 news said their kids were indeed developing many of these symptoms. They also say their biggest concern is just finding answers.
Winnebago County Health Department Director Mike Bacon says the investigation will consist of a survey sent out to all the kids suffering from an illness. He will try to find a common link to help determine the cause of the sickness.
Health Department officials say those who become ill should wait 72 hours after feeling better before returning to school.
