"It doesn't surprise me, it's a long time coming."

Parents at South Beloit Junior High have been saying for years, teacher Kevin Thompson's reputation rubs them the wrong way.

"He was too friendly with the students, he needs to be more of a teacher and not a friend he shouldn't be giving out his phone number and letting students text him," says a parent who refers to remain anonymous.

The 27-year-old was arrested at his Machesney Park home last night on nine counts. Four for indecent solicitation of a child, one count of solicitation to meet a child and four counts of battery, which include kissing and touching a 13-year-old. Authorities aren't releasing the child's sex or where the incident happened. We stopped by Thompson's home today and no one answered.

Sharon Klaas never met Thompson because she says he moved in in August. Actually five Harlem School District employees live in their cul-de-sac.

"The neighborhood won't be happy. I can almost say he won't be coming back in here cause we will find a way to keep him out of here," says Klaas.

Thompson is in the Winnebago County Jail on 100-thousand dollar bond.

He's taught social studies at South Beloit for the last three years. He also coached the 8th grade boys basketball team along with being involved in a series of other events. District leaders say he's been on administrative leave since Monday and will decide what to do with him as the case proceeds.
