Amanda Reed, 27, was found dead earlier this month inside her apartment. Ryan Schiller, 26, is now facing aggravated domestic battery charges in the case.
The Winnebago County State's Attorney originally referred the matter to the attorney general, citing a close relationship with the Reed family.
But now, the attorney general says it has a conflict. It's currently prosecuting a DUI charge against a detective involved with the Schiller investigation.
The appellate prosecutor has since agreed to take the case.
