A well-known diet guru died with a heart condition linked to obesity. That's according to a new report released by the New York City medical examiner.
It shows that Dr. Robert Adkins weighed 258 pounds at his death and previously suffered a heart attack, congestive heart failure and hypertension. Adkins died last April at the age of 72 after he fell on an icy New York street.
Atkins stressed eating a high protein diet filled with meat and cheese instead of carbohydrates.
His widow says she's outraged the report is public. She says her husband's doctors insist his health problems weren't linked to his diet.
