The sister of a former campaign worker lands a job running the state's Bureau of Real Estate Professions.
Gertrude Kelly got the job just five days after being issued a real estate broker's license. She became an assistant commissioner in the Office of Banks and Real Estate in December earning $92,000 a year.
Her brother, Christopher Kelly was Blagojevich's former campaign manager. Records show that he loaned or gave Blagojevich $464,000 from companies he owns.
Real Estate Commissioner D. Lorenzo Padron says her experience in the Office of Banks and Real Estate makes up for her not having a background in real estate. He also said that her brother had no influence in her hiring.
