There is a new face on the Rockford School Board.
Robert Evan was nominated and sworn at Monday night’s School Board meeting.
Current board members say they hope he can bring a strong stance to the district.
Robert Evans is taking over the seat of former board member Mark Burns. Evans comes to the board with much education experience under his belt.
He’s an economics professor at Rockford College and very involved in the local community. Evans was one of five candidates interviewed for the position. He says he has three priorities as a new board member.
He plans to help the district as it immerges from the desegregation order, strive to educate all students equally and work within a tight budget.
He was appointed on a four to one vote, with one abstention. Since Evans was appointed to the board, he will have to run for the position in the April elections.
