State Program to Help Departments Buy New Fire Trucks

The Illinois state fire marshal is sending out applications this week that are designed to help needy fire districts buy fire trucks.

The $10 million program provides no-interest revolving loans for the purchase of new or used equipment.

State officials plan to mail more than 12,000 applications this week to let every fire department in the state know about the program. Applications are due by March 15.

The maximum loan amount is $250,000, and the loans must be repaid within 20 years.
