Fannie May stores are going out of business.
Archibald Candy Company who owns Fannie May announced Saturday that all 228 of its candy stores will close by next month. The announcement follows an earlier decision to close Archibald's Chicago factory.
The stores will start closing January 20th and the closures would be complete by mid-February. In recent weeks company officials repeatedly said they were trying to negotiate a sale of the company, but the union says the talk now is about severance pay.
Three Fannie May stores are in Rockford and Freeport.
