The public defender representing Katie Stockton of Rockton asked Judge Joseph McGraw for a new judge in both her murder case as well as a previous forgery incident.
The request was granted, giving the two cases to Judge John Truitt starting September 16th.
Stockton's attorney, Dave Doll, would not comment after Thursday's court appearance.
Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato says his office is OK with the new judge.
Stockton was arrested in early August and charged with killing Baby Crystal.
Authorities believe she's the mother of the infant, who was abandoned back in 2004 on a rural Rockton lawn.
