Winnebago County non-profits will have the chance to apply for a piece of a more than $225,000 grant released to the United Way. The Federal Emergency Management Agency grant helps organizations like the Rock River Food Pantry, Lifescape, Phase and the Red Cross. While demand for emergency shelter and food run high in the stateline, the grant is actually for less than the 2003 grant.
Applications for the grant money must be turned in to the United Way by Jan. 23.
