It happened around 1 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of Fairview and Irving Avenues.
A taxi customer displayed a gun and demanded money. The driver handed over money but as the suspect fled the cab. He shot the driver in the face with a pellet gun.
The driver was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released.
The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20s, 5’6” and 170 pounds. He has a medium build and a scar on his check. He was last seen wearing a brown ski type coat and jeans
