The future looks bright for a museum that focuses on Rockford's past.
The Midway Village History Museum will be expanding it's main museum center after the Rockford Park District board approved the design concept for the newly proposed expansion area. The new area will be called Many Faces One Community and will explore the history of immigration in Rockford and those immigrant's impact on the community.
"It's going to be an immersive and interactive exhibit. Visitors are going to enter through a train depot, much as immigrants did in Rockford in the 19th century. You're also going to visit an immigrant's home to see how people lived," says Midway Village Executive Director, David Byrnes.
The money from the expansion comes from private donations and the hope is to open the new expansion area by 2011.
