We're learning more about the events leading up to yesterday's drowning at a Garden Prairie camping resort.
The Boone County Coroner tells us the victim is 50-year-old James Kreklau of Garden Prairie. A spokesperson for Paradise Park says Kreklau died trying to save his dog that jumped into a fishing pond, which is a no swimming site. Kreklau then went after the dog, got exhausted, and went under. It took rescue crews a half-hour to find him. The Coroner says drowning is the cause of death. The dog did survive.
