A grassroots program is about to kick off with the hope of bringing passenger rail back to the area.
On Tuesday, the Northwest Illinois Blackhawk Express Coalition is planning a rally at Davis Park in Rockford, to support the return of Amtrak to the region.
A proposed route would go from Dubuque, Iowa, through Rockford, to Chicago.
Organizers say it's important for citizens and local businesses to get involved to make it happen.
To show your support, head to the rally on Tuesday. You can also visit www.bringrail.com and sign up. You can follow the coalition on Facebook and Twitter as well.
