A scary situation at a local jewelry store this morning after two of the stores employees were maced while being robbed.

It happened here at J. Kamin Jewelers, in the Mulford Village Shopping Center at East State Street and Mulford Road, around 10:30 a.m.. Police say a twenty two year old woman walked into the store and asked some employees to see several pieces of jewelry. The woman then grabbed one of the items and attempted to run. Two of the employees were sprayed with mace when they tried to stop the woman.

"One was able to exit the store and call for help. There were some workmen here in the shopping center they saw the girl run out and detained her for police arrival and she is currently in custody," said Sgt. Taylor with the Rockford Police Department.

The woman was taken to the Winnebago County Jail. She is charged with two counts of armed robbery and aggravated battery.

Why is her name a secret? She must not be a black woman because if she was her name would have been all over. It is not unusual for this, but it need's to change, we are all equal, even when we break the law. Just goes to show how hard times is now.
